The 14th edition of the NNPC Limited Sports Fiesta will kick off this Sunday, November 30, 2025, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, with the company reaffirming its determination to maintain its dominance in the Nigeria Oil & Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) slated for February 2026.

The biennial sporting tournament, themed “Energy In Motion: Compete, Connect & Celebrate,” will feature 450 athletes from the company’s various zones, underscoring NNPC Ltd’s commitment to promoting employee wellness as a tool for increased productivity.

According to a statement signed by Andrew Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., the one-week event will run until Saturday, December 6, 2025, bringing together teams from six zones grouped under the firm’s core values:

Team Integrity – Port Harcourt/Benin

Team Excellence – Lagos/Warri

Team Sustainability – Abuja/Kaduna

Competitors will battle for supremacy across 13 sports, including football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, tennis, golf, table tennis, badminton, squash, chess, scrabble, 8-ball pool and swimming.

Beyond fostering team spirit, this year’s fiesta will also serve as a talent pipeline for selecting NNPC Ltd’s representatives at the 20th Nigeria Oil & Gas Industry Games (NOGIG) next year, where the company hopes to defend its long-held champion status.

NNPC Ltd has consistently dominated NOGIG over the years. During the 2024 edition held at the same venue in Abuja, the company emerged overall champion, securing 50 medals, including 20 gold, 9 silver and 21 bronze.

The company says it is fully prepared to replicate — and even surpass — that performance as it kicks off yet another exciting sporting season.
