Shock and grief have continued to spread across Abuja and Anambra State following the brutal killing of prominent businessman Chief Godwin Chinedu Lucky Adimike, popularly known as “Egonaejeije Na Awka-Etiti,” who was reportedly stabbed to death at his residence in the upscale Guzape area of the Federal Capital Territory.
The 53-year-old entrepreneur was found critically injured at his home located at Number 3, Hassan Adamu Street, Guzape, on Friday, May 15, 2026, after what authorities described as a violent attack.
According to reports, emergency responders rushed the businessman to Karu General Hospital after a distress call, but doctors later confirmed him dead on arrival.
The incident has triggered intense reactions online, with social media platforms flooded by sensational and unverified narratives surrounding the circumstances of the killing.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command confirmed the homicide and disclosed that five suspects, including a relative of the deceased, have already been arrested in connection with the case.
FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said officers responded swiftly after receiving information about the incident and immediately launched an investigation.
She added that detectives are currently working to establish the motive behind the killing while gathering evidence from suspects already in custody.
However, police authorities have not publicly identified any suspect or officially confirmed claims circulating online that the businessman was allegedly stabbed by his son, said to be a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Several viral posts had claimed that the killing followed a heated family dispute involving money, lifestyle disagreements, and alleged domestic tensions. Some social media users even alleged that the suspect had returned from a nightclub with two women before the confrontation turned deadly.
But the family of the late businessman has strongly rejected the reports.
In an emotional voice note that has circulated widely online, the deceased’s wife, Mrs. Lucky Adimike, denied allegations linking any of her children to the murder, insisting that many of the stories being shared online were false, speculative, and damaging.
She appealed to Nigerians to avoid spreading misinformation and allow security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation without interference or “social media trials.”
The tragic death of Chief Adimike has sent shockwaves through business and social circles in Abuja, Lagos, and Anambra State, where he was widely known for his influence and philanthropy.
The businessman, who hailed from Awka-Etiti in Anambra State, reportedly built successful ventures in electronics importation, real estate, and other investments spanning multiple cities across Nigeria.
Friends, associates, and members of the Awka-Etiti community have continued to mourn his passing, describing him as a generous benefactor and respected entrepreneur whose death leaves a major void.
Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command has appealed to members of the public to remain calm and provide credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
Authorities also warned against spreading unverified claims capable of jeopardizing the integrity of the investigation.
As of the time of filing this report, no formal charges had been publicly announced against any suspect connected to the killing.
