Police Arraign Three For Sexual Assault In Abuja

The Nigerian Police on Friday arraigned three men in Abuja, before a Zuba Upper Area Court for allegedly touching a lady’s private part without her consent.

Kelechi Echendu, the prosecutor, who told the court that the accused persons, Enoch Adeojo, Hilary Elechi and Ebuka Precious committed the crime on October 27 said, the three, who were bar men at a hotel in Dawaki area of Abuja, conspired and broke into the private residence of the complainant, name withheld, in Dutsen-Alhaji, where they committed the crime.

The prosecutor explained that the complainant was asleep when the accused persons broke into the residence and assaulted her, adding that her neighbours saved her after she shouted for help.

Echendu told the court that the action of the three accused persons was contrary to the provisions of sections 79 and 284 of the Penal Code.

Aminu Sa’ad, the presiding Judge, ordered the accused persons to be remanded in prison custody, and adjourned the case till November 5, to enable the police complete investigation before the continuation of hearing.
