Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC vying to represent Obokun Constituency of Osun State in the House of Assembly, has raised alarm over the destruction of his campaign billboards in Obokun by people suspected to be agents of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Oyintiloye alleged that the suspected vandals loyal to Francis Fadahunsi, a PDP senatorial candidate in Osun East, came in the midnight of last Friday and destroyed the billboards stationed along Obokun axis of Obokun-Osogbo road.
The APC candidate said an eyewitness told him that the gangsters came in two cars.
According the to him, the billboard destroyed had his picture and pictures of the APC presidential, senatorial and House of Representative candidates respectively.
Before the incident, Oyintiloye said some political thugs had two weeks ago, stormed Obokun Roundabout and started shooting sporadically, disrupting the hitherto peaceful community.
He however called on security operatives to investigate the two incidences and bring the culprits to book.
The APC candidate stressed that continuous attack on APC members and campaign materials could threaten communal peace.
Oyintiloye warned that modern electioneering campaign should be done in the spirit of the peace accord signed in Abuja by political leaders and not display of crude force.
Wale Bolorunduro, chairman, Ijesa-North Federal Constituency also condemned the attack and called on the Police to carry out thorough investigation into the incident and ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.
