The All-Progressives Congress (APC) Leaders’ Forum in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State has called on party members to embrace unity and cohesion ahead of the August 8, 2026, governorship election in the state.
The call was contained in a communiqué issued on Sunday in Osogbo by the co-conveners of the forum, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye and Hon. Tunji Adesokun, stressing that internal harmony is crucial to the party’s victory at the polls. According to the forum, if APC members remain united and focused, the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, would secure victory with ease.
The communiqué described Oyebamiji as a loyal, committed and highly experienced politician, noting that his emergence as the party’s flag bearer should serve as a rallying point for all stakeholders.
The group appealed to APC leaders at both the state and national levels to intensify efforts to unite all tendencies and interests within the party, warning that internal divisions could undermine its chances at the election.
“We are approaching a major election, and we must ensure that we go into the poll as a united and cohesive group,” the statement read.
“The choice of Oyebamiji as our candidate has made the task easier, but our leaders must still work hard to prevent internal sabotage.”
The forum reaffirmed its full support for Oyebamiji, pledging to mobilise grassroots support across the state to ensure his victory. It also restated an earlier agreement reached by APC leaders in Obokun LGA that all members must drop allegiance to other aspirants once a candidate is produced, regardless of the constitutional mode of selection.
While commending party leaders for ensuring a peaceful primary election process in Osun State, the forum urged them to reconcile all aggrieved members to strengthen the party ahead of the governorship contest.
The group noted that indications on the ground suggest that voters are eager for the return of the APC to power in the state but cautioned that members must avoid divisive tendencies.
“With dedication and unity among members, victory at the polls will be easier for the APC,” the communiqué added.
The forum also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Chairman of APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the party’s National Leader, Chief Bisi Akande, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru, the Osun State APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the leader of the APC Elders’ Forum in Osun, Pa Sola Akinwunmi, and other party stakeholders for their commitment to the growth and unity of the party.
