At least one person has been declared dead while eight others were said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries after a bomb exploded in the New Motor park, Sabon Gari area of Kano State on Thursday.
According to the police and eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred at about 3pm in the predominantly Christian neighborhood.
Adelere Shinaba, Kano State police commissioner said, “It was an improvised explosive device, IED. The explosive was concealed in a water dispenser and brought into the motor park by unknown people.”
“A woman was killed and eight other people were injured and have been taken to the hospital. Our forensic experts are combing the scene for clues. We have already commenced investigation.”
Shinaba said there was no immediate claim of responsibility and no arrests have been made.
