The Delta State Commissioner of Police, (CP) Yemi Oyeniyi, has commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his sustained investment in strengthening security across the state, describing the administration’s support to security agencies as instrumental in enhancing policing and public safety.

The Police Commissioner gave the commendation when the Chairman of the Delta State Security Trust Fund (DSSTF), Hon. Daniel Mayuku led members of the Board and management, paid him a courtesy visit at the Delta State Police Command Headquarters in Asaba.

The visit, according to both parties, was aimed at reinforcing the existing partnership between the Delta State Security Trust Fund and the Nigeria Police Force in safeguarding lives and property across the state.

Speaking during the meeting, CP Oyeniyi expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government and the Security Trust Fund for their consistent support to the police command.

He conveyed the gratitude of the Inspector-General of Police to Governor Oborevwori for his unwavering commitment to improving the operational capacity of the Police through sustained investment in security infrastructure and logistics.

The Commissioner particularly commended the Trust Fund for facilitating the provision of a modern interrogation room and a state-of-the-art data room, describing the facilities as critical to improving intelligence gathering and crime-fighting operations.

He, however, appealed for continued support in key areas, including the maintenance of operational vehicles, acquisition of technological equipment, strengthening of community policing initiatives and enhanced public engagement through social media platforms.

Responding, Mayuku, reiterated the Board’s commitment to supporting security agencies through strategic investments in infrastructure, logistics and operational capacity to enable them to discharge their constitutional responsibilities effectively.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary of the Trust Fund, Hon. Samuel Osasa, said the Governor Oborevwori administration remained resolute in implementing initiatives that would further strengthen security across the state.

Osasa assured the Police Commissioner that the Board would continue to deploy available resources towards improving security infrastructure and supporting programmes that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of security operations.

The meeting ended with the Delta State Police Command and the Delta State Security Trust Fund reaffirming their commitment to deepening collaboration in the fight against crime and sustaining peace, security and public confidence across Delta State.
