All is now set for the April 11 governorship election in Rivers State. Election materials were moved from INEC headquarters on Aba Road to various centres yesterday, where they will be further taken to the polling centres this morning, April 11, 2015.
Although sporadic gunshots shattered the quite of the night leading to the polls, the police had earlier announced the deployment of special police and counter-terrorism units to the state, which has been the scene of repeated killings and violence for sometime now.
The police have assured residents that the elections will be peaceful and urged all to maintain peace before, during and after the polls.
