Voting continues today in some parts of Rivers State where the exercise did not take take place at all on Saturday or where it was disrupted due to violence.
The APC in the state has called for the outright cancellation of the election. APC Governorship candidate Dakuku Peterside, state APC chairman and many of the party’s bigwigs cited absence of authentic election result sheets, violence and alleged collusion between PDP and INEC REC in the state as well as alleged deliberate manipulation by security officers.
“Generally there was no election in Rivers State. No voting, no proper accreditation, nothing has happened,” observed Peterside.
This is however at variance with the observation of TELL as the exercise went smoothly, but slowly, in some centres visited.
In some centres, the malfunctioning of the card readers led to the manual accreditation of voters. This may however be one of the failings Peterside alluded to.
