More Training for Journalists as Lagos NUJ Partners American Corner

The Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Lagos State Council under the leadership of Adeleye Ajayi, is not relenting in the area of capacity building for its members.

Therefore, as part of the Council’s commitment towards equipping Lagos journalists with the necessary skills to help them discharge their duties professionally, the Union is organising a 3-day workshop on Video Editing. This is being done in partnership with American Corner in Lagos.

This was announced in a  statement signed by Tunde Olalere, Secretary, NUJ Lagos State Council. It quoted Ajayi as saying that training and retraining of Journalists was key to the success of the profession.

Ajayi who described Lagos State as the Centre of Journalism in Nigeria said members of the Council must be seen to be working the talk.

It will be recalled that no fewer than 450 members of Lagos NUJ benefitted from the Google NewsLab Training, 29 members participated at the Nigeria Customs Training for Maritime reporters and some senior editors, while some Council members attended The British Council Rule of Law Anti-Corruption (RoLac) training in Ikeja just to mention a few.u

The chairman urged members shortlisted for the training from their respective chapels to key into this opportunity, in order to enrich their knowledge in video editing.

The event holds from Monday 27th to Wednesday 29th March, 2023 at the training hall of American Corner in the Ikeja axis of Lagos State.

The Council is in no way resting on its oars where training of members are concerned. So, Kemi Ishola, Chairman, Training Committee of Lagos NUJ, reaffirmed the readiness of the Council to facilitate further trainings for members of the Council.
