IG’s Special Investigation Team Takes Over Case of Late Omozuwa, Gang-Raped UNIBEN Student

A special crack team deployed by the Inspector General of Police to unravel the circumstances surrounding the suspected gang- raping and murder of a 23-year-old 100 level student of the University of Benin, Uwaila Vera Omozuwa has taken over the investigation of the incident from the state police command.
Tell gathered on Tuesday that the initial investigators have handed over the files and exhibits in respect of the case to the special team.

Omozuwa was killed Wednesday May 27, 2020 at the Province 10 parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Ikpoba Hill, Benin where she had gone to study. Her blood stained books littered the scene of attack.

State Police Public Relations Officer, Chidi Nwabuzor said a suspect whose fingerprints were found on the murder weapon, a fire extinguisher, had been arrested.
