Rafiu Ladipo, President General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Association on Wednesday, congratulated the president-elect,Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the just concluded presidential election.
While stressing that Buhari’s emergence was historic,given the support accorded to him across the country, Ladipo urged Buhari to use the tremendous goodwill shown to him by Nigerians to develop sports,which he said was a critical sector in the polity.
“It is our hope that the President-elect will use the tremendous goodwill shown by Nigerians in developing sports,which is a critical sector in the polity,”Ladipo said. He also enjoined Buhari to re-ignite the support he committed to sports as he did in 1985 when Nigeria became the first African country to lift a FIFA trophy.
“We recall with pride the contributions of the General to Nigeria’s success story in the 1985 FIFA U-17 tournament and believe he can do it again as civilian president,” he added.
