Renowned lifestyle medicine practitioner, Samuel Amukele, has said that contrary to common belief, diabetes is not caused by sugar.
Amukele, who disclosed this in a lecture he delivered on natural medicine at the opening of the 2021 Correspondents’ Chapel Week of the NUJ in Port Harcourt on Monday, said diabetes can be cured within two weeks.
He said a lot of diseases afflicting human beings were caused by poor lifestyle choices.
Amukele listed cayenne pepper, lemon, activated charcoal among natural remedies that have answers to debilitating diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, malaria other tropical ailments.
He said contrary to widely held beliefs, diabetes caused by fats and oil and not sugar. “Sugar is only the trigger,” he said.
He said people need to make good use of the natural food and herbs around them and take advantage of the sun and natural exercises to get the best in life.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, represented by Celestine Ogolo, Director of Public Enlightenment in the Ministry of Information declared the 6-day Correspondents’ Week open.
Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Mr Amaechi Okonkwo said the Week will afford members opportunity to be exposed to various survival options including the green and blue economies.
