Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa as the new Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA). The appointment takes immediate effect, signalling a renewed drive to strengthen the quality of education across the state.

Dr. Ogunmuyiwa received his appointment letter on Thursday, December 11, 2025, from the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, during a brief ceremony held at the Secretariat in Alausa, Ikeja.

A highly experienced education administrator, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa brings to the role over 25 years of expertise in school evaluation, education planning, quality assurance systems, and leadership within the Lagos State Government. He holds a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja, alongside two Master’s degrees in Educational Administration and Guidance & Counselling, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Lagos.

Throughout his career, he has served in several key capacities, including Head of Planning, Head of Education Quality Assurance Services, and most recently, Director of Private Education and Special Programmes at OEQA. In these roles, he played a pivotal part in school accreditation, quality monitoring, and the enhancement of state-wide education standards.
Dr. Ogunmuyiwa is also a multi-award winner, having been recognised as OEQA’s Best Staff consistently between 2012 and 2022.

Beyond government service, he is an active member of notable professional bodies and has contributed significantly to teacher development, school improvement models, and community-based educational programmes. He is widely regarded as a mentor to civil servants and young professionals and has facilitated training sessions for both public and private institutions.

Congratulating the new Director-General, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, expressed strong confidence in Dr. Ogunmuyiwa’s abilities.
“I am confident that Dr. Ogunmuyiwa’s appointment will further enhance the quality of education in Lagos State, and I urge him to continue working tirelessly to ensure that our education system remains a model for others to emulate,” Agoro said.

The appointment is expected to bolster the state’s ongoing reforms aimed at improving educational outcomes, strengthening oversight, and positioning Lagos as a benchmark in education quality nationwide.
