Zinno Orara, award winning artist and one of Nigeria’s most celebrated painters, on Friday, December 5, opened an eight-day exhibition of his works to the delight of art lovers in Lagos.
The exhibition, titled, Against All Odds, is in celebration of AdaoraOrara, Zinno’s wife who is currently battling breast cancer.
Orara took guests and members of the press on tours through the beautiful gallery, describing the paintings on display in detail and telling the gripping stories behind each artwork and the thoughts that inspired them.
Within hours of opening, collectors picked several of the works on display and many more promised to return in the coming days.
Orarawhile explaining the ultimate inspiration behind Against All Oddssaid, “Life’s heaviest burden is to have nothing to carry. The value of every person is determined by the sacrifices he is willing to make for others.”
With twelve solo exhibitions and over twenty group exhibitions across Nigeria, South Africa, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States, Against All Odds is Orara’s 13th solo exhibition.
Present at the opening were, Tosyn Bucknor, Toni Kan, Peju Akande, AzuhArinze,Jahman Anikulapo, Oreka Godis, Terry Tharapman, Sarah Ofili and Chris Ihidero.
Also present to support the exhibition was AyeniAdekunle, and SinmiAdesanya; the Gallery owner.
The exhibition remains open till Friday, December 12, 2014 at Mydrim Gallery, 74B, Norman Williams Street, S/W Ikoyi from 9am daily.
