A chieftain of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has issued a passionate appeal to Nigeria’s Service Chiefs to take urgent and decisive action to safeguard citizens amid escalating insecurity across the country.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye described the surge in killings and abductions in Kwara, Kebbi, Niger and several other states as unbearable and deeply distressing.
He lamented that the recent attacks on worshippers, students, and rural communities had plunged many families into agony while further portraying the country as increasingly unsafe.
“I want to passionately appeal to the Service Chiefs to do everything within their power to rescue the abducted children and also stop the senseless killings by terrorists across the country,” he said.
According to him, entire communities have become desolate due to mass displacement and unrelenting violence.
“Parents and relatives are devastated by the continuous abduction of school children and the killings happening almost daily,” he added.
Oyintiloye urged security authorities to urgently review their operational strategies if necessary, warning that “Nigeria is bleeding and time is running out.”
While acknowledging the efforts of security agencies, he stressed that the frequency of attacks in recent days demands a complete overhaul of tactics and renewed commitment.
The APC chieftain also called on President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to fish out individuals sabotaging the military’s operations.
“The President and the NSA should discreetly identify those sabotaging the efforts of the military in protecting Nigerians. Those saboteurs within the system must be flushed out before they do more damage,” he said.
He added that reports of internal sabotage and external collaboration in ongoing security operations must be investigated and decisively addressed.
Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, commended President Tinubu for his commitment to restoring peace in the country. He expressed confidence that Nigeria has the capacity to defeat terrorism with collective support from all stakeholders.
He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, assuring that the nation will overcome its current security challenges with unity and cooperation.
