Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has appointed Bashorun Akinwale Akinwole, popularly known as Wolekanle, as his new Chief of Staff, following the resignation of Segun Ogunwuyi from the position.

The governor also appointed Mrs Aderonke Adedayo as Director-General of the Oyo State Due Process Office, with both appointments taking immediate effect.

The appointments were announced on Monday in letters signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.

Akinwole, a grassroots politician, previously served as Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission before his latest appointment.

He succeeds Ogunwuyi, who resigned as Chief of Staff earlier on Monday. In his resignation letter, Ogunwuyi expressed gratitude to Makinde for the opportunity to serve the state, describing his time in the administration as a fulfilling experience.

However, he did not disclose a specific reason for his resignation.

Akinwole’s appointment places him at the centre of the governor’s administrative operations, where he is expected to support the coordination of government activities and the implementation of the administration’s programmes.

Meanwhile, Adedayo will combine her new responsibilities as Director-General of the Due Process Office with her existing position as Special Adviser on General Intervention and Donor Agencies.

Her appointment gives her additional responsibilities within the state government, particularly in overseeing the work of the Due Process Office, which is associated with compliance with established procedures in public procurement and government expenditure.

Announcing the appointments, Makinde congratulated both appointees and urged them to discharge their duties with loyalty, commitment and dedication to the service of Oyo State.

The changes come amid personnel movements within the Makinde administration, following Ogunwuyi’s departure from the Chief of Staff position.

The state government has not announced any further changes connected to the appointments.
