The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has announced the temporary closure of major roads in Lagos Island to ensure a smooth and safe conduct of the annual Eyo Festival on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

LASTMA confirmed that Adeniji Adele, CMS, and Marina roads will be closed to vehicular traffic during the traditional procession, which draws thousands of spectators and participants.

The closures aim to guarantee public safety, prevent traffic congestion, and allow the festival to proceed without disruption.
Motorists have been advised to plan alternative routes and follow traffic officers’ instructions during the event.

Traffic personnel will be deployed across strategic points to manage the flow of vehicles and pedestrians in surrounding areas.
The Eyo Festival, a centuries-old Yoruba cultural celebration, features the iconic white-clad masquerades, known as Eyo, parading through Lagos Island in a vibrant display of tradition and pageantry. The festival attracts visitors from across Nigeria and around the world, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Lagos.

Residents and commuters have been urged to exercise patience, use public transport where possible, and adhere to traffic guidelines to ensure smooth movement around the city during the festivities.

Authorities emphasized that the temporary road closures are essential for the safety of both participants and spectators and called on Lagosians to cooperate for the successful staging of this historic event.

The Eyo Festival procession will commence on Saturday, December 27, 2025, with all traffic management measures remaining in effect until the event concludes.
