The palace of the paramount ruler of Ijesaland in Ilesa, Osun State has announced how it wants the monarch to be addressed. A statement by Chief Shola Oshunkeye, a fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, FNGE and a CNN award winning journalist conveyed the message in a statement made available to TELL Communications LTD. Oshunkeye, who made the statement on behalf of the Coronation Committee, is the chairman of the media and publicity committee, itself a subcommittee of the body responsible for the planning of the coronation of the first class traditional ruler.
According to Oshunkeye, the monarch should be addressed as HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, OWA CLEMENT ADESUYI HAASTRUP, AJIMOKO III, OWA OBOKUN ADIMULA AND THE PARAMOUNT RULER OF IJESALAND.
The palace indicated that the Owa should be so addressed in all correspondences and communications. Oshunkeye added that the clarification became necessary “to forestall any ambiguity and discordance in reportage, correspondences and communications on all matters concerning the Owa Obokun Adimula and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland.”
