Barely 24 hours after the Edo State government challenged the All-Progressives Congress (APC) to set up a transition committee to interface with that of the state government for a seamless transfer of power, the party on Monday announced a 24-member body headed by former deputy governor of the state, Dr. Pius Odubu.

Recall that the state government had written to the APC and the governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, requesting them to set up their own committee to work with the one set up by Governor Godwin Obaseki, headed by the secretary to the state government, (SSG)Joseph Eboigbe.

The APC’s response was contained in a letter dated October 24, addressed to the governor by the Acting State Chairman of the APC, Jarrett Tenebe.

The letter reads, “I write to acknowledge the receipt of your letter requesting the Governor-Elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and the All-Progressives Congress (APC), to initiate the formation of a transition team to work with your side.

“We however look forward to a smooth and effective collaboration with our 24-member Committee, headed by Chief Pius Odubu as Chairman, for meaningful discussions that will lead to a seamless transition process.

“Attached herewith is the list. Your commitment is highly appreciated.”

Among the committee members are the Director General of the APC Campaign Council, Sen. Matthew Uroghide, Pastor Osagie Ize-lyamu, Dr. Washington Osifo, Nosa Adams, Kassim Afegbua, former Chief of Staff to Governor Obaseki, Taiwo Akerele.
