Gov. Bala Mohammed Expected at Media Awards

On Thursday, December 7, all roads will lead to Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State as Lagos State council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, under the leadership of Adeleye Ajayi holds its 2nd edition of the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ Milestone Recognition of Media Icons in Nigeria.

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state will deliver the keynote address at the event, where the chairman will be Alhaji Mohammed Malagi, Minister of Information, and Aremo Olusegun Osoba, a distinguished journalist and former governor of Ogun State will be the father of the day.

According to a statement co-signed by Otunba Gbenga Onayiga, Chairman and Olayide Awosanya, Secretary, Organising Committee stated that “The much-anticipated event by members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm celebrates personalities that have contributed immensely to the growth, development and sustenance of Journalism in Nigeria.” The recipients of this year’s Milestone Recognition of Media Icons include Mr. Ray Ekpu, Dr.Danladi Bako, High Chief Tony Akiotu, Mrs Dupe Ajayi-Gbadebo, Mallam Baba Dantiye, Alhaji Najeem Jimoh, Prof Stella Okunna, Prince Henry Odukomaiya and Prof. Ralph Akinfeleye.

Others are Prof Femi Adefela, Chief Emeka Izeze, Aremo Taiwo Alimi, Senator Chris Anyanwu, Dr.Grace Achums, Sir Folu Olamiti, and Mrs.Agbeke Ogunsanwo.

Governor Mohammed’s address will be on the theme “The Place of Icons and Role Models in National Development: The NUJ Milestone Awards in Perspective”.

Dignitaries, Communication Scholars and political actors are expected at the event.
