Orders reactivation of over 150 Support Groups in the state.

Nigeria’s former vice president and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2019 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, has directed the reactivation of his more than 150 support groups in Edo State in preparation for the September 19, 2020 governorship election in the state. The directive followed the emergence of the state governor, Godwin Obaseki as the candidate of the party on Friday.

Confirming the directive in an interaction with newsmen in Benin on Saturday, Oladimeji Fabiyi, the deputy director in charge of Atiku Support Groups/Mobilization in the defunct Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation and PDP Presidential Campaign, said the directive was with immediate effect and was part of mobilization for the victory of Obaseki, the governorship candidate of the party, at the poll.

Fabiyi said Atiku, as a major stakeholder in the PDP, considered it expedient to put in place winning structures and machinery that would guarantee total victory for the party. “You know we need to complete the circle in the South-south region that naturally and originally belonged to the PDP. Having received the directive with joy and enthusiasm, I have no doubt that all our support groups in Edo State will be very glad to receive this news and run with the directive of Atiku Abubakar for the benefit of Governor Obaseki and our great party in Edo State”, Fabiyi stated.
