A national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former Senator who represented Edo Central senatorial district, Magnus Odion Ugbesia has charged delegates to the Edo State PDP 2020 governorship primaries to choose wisely and not allow emotions and sentiments determine their choice in order to be able to defeat the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress, APC, at the September 19 governorship polls in the state.
Ugbesia, also a former minister of state, ministry of foreign affairs, and later minister for solid minerals, gave the charge when he addressed delegates at Esan South-east local government area of the state, during a visit by a governorship aspirant and member representing Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama.
Ugbesia recalled that prior to preparations for the Edo 2020 gubernatorial election, he and other key stakeholders had started the Esan agenda with the objective to take the right decision at the appropriate time based on political exigencies. He told the delegates that the right time to take that right decision was now in order to ensure that they were removed from opposition after 13 years.
The PDP national leader said he needed to recount the experience owing to the fact that two of the aspirants on the PDP platform are from the same senatorial district with him, as well as to disabuse their minds of any unnecessary considerations. Ugbesia said Edo people were earnestly waiting for a change which they hope PDP would provide.
