The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has issued a decisive order to troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify the search-and-rescue mission for students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
A statement signed by David Adewusi, Captain & Media Officer of Operation FASAN YANMA on Tuesday, said Gen. Shaibu gave the directive on Monday, November 17, 2025, during an operational visit to Kebbi State, where he met with frontline commanders and personnel engaged in the ongoing rescue efforts. He charged the troops to adopt intelligence-driven tactics and maintain continuous pressure on the abductors.
“We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on all intelligence. Success is not optional,” the COAS declared, urging troops to sustain day-and-night operations across difficult terrains to ensure the safe return of the victims.
The Army Chief also held a strategic engagement with local vigilantes and hunters, describing them as essential allies in the mission. He encouraged them to work closely with the military, leveraging their familiarity with the environment to track, disrupt, and neutralize criminal groups operating within the region.
“Together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely,” he assured.
Earlier in the visit, Gen. Shaibu paid condolence calls on the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to securing the release of the abducted schoolgirls without harm.
The COAS further urged troops to remain professional and resilient, emphasizing strict adherence to the rules of engagement while intensifying operations aimed at restoring peace across Kebbi State and neighbouring communities.
