Naomi Mutah Nyadar, leader, Bring-back-our Girls protest has been detained in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
Nyadar was picked up from her home in the early hours of Monday morning by men of the Nigeria Police Force and she is being held back at Asokoro police station till the time of filling this report.
She is leading the protest for the release of the over 200 secondary school girls in Chibok, Borno State.
Nyadar had vowed to continue to lead the protest around Unity Fountain some 200 metres away from Transcorp Hilton Hotels venue of the planned World Economic Forum, WEF, on Africa slated to commence on Wednesday in Abuja.
Though her actual offence could not be ascertained as at the time of filling this report, it is believed that her arrest may have been ordered by top government functionaries who are of the opinion that Nyadar and her team are fabricating claims of the abduction of the school girls.
Samuel Ogala, a lawyer, in the Falana and Falana Chambers said, “We believe it is in connection with the protests she is leading.”
