It sounds too good to be true, but in reality, drinking a lot of water is actually a life-saver. Recent studies have shown that drinking three glasses of water early in the morning before eating also help to burn fat in the body. It also helps maintain the balance of body fluids which functions include digestion, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of the body temperature.

Drinking water in the morning also helps to remove toxins and other waste from the body, as it also lubricates joints and the colon. When one is low on fluids, the brain triggers the body’s thirst mechanism, and that is when a person feels thirsty. The solution, is to drink water, juice, milk, coffee or anything but not alcohol.

Water has no calories, it is fat free, cholesterol free, low in sodium, water is an appetite suppressant, and also helps the body break down stored fat. When the kidneys do not have enough water, they cannot function properly, now the liver steps in as a backup, but doing so hinders its ability to breakdown fat effectively, the fat thus remains stored in the body, and that contributes to weight gain. So, to avoid this, it is expedient to drink a lot of water.

But there are those who do not like drinking water. Such persons are advised to squeeze either lemon or lime into their water to give it a bit of flavor. Limewater is a low-calorie alternative to sodas and other sweet beverages. Reducing calorie consumption is the key to losing weight.
