A suspected notorious bandit popularly known online as Sule Yellow has been arrested by Nigerian security forces shortly after he allegedly collected ransom from the family of a kidnapped victim.

The suspect gained widespread notoriety on TikTok through the account @suleyellow6, where he allegedly posted videos flaunting large sums of cash, weapons and what appeared to be proceeds from kidnapping operations.

Security sources said the arrest was carried out during an intelligence-driven operation while the suspect was reportedly returning to his hideout after receiving ransom money. Authorities had reportedly been monitoring his activities for weeks, including his social media footprint.

The TikTok account has since been taken down following the arrest.

The suspect drew national attention after a viral livestream posted on March 4, 2026, where he appeared alongside another suspected bandit identified as Auta and other associates. During the livestream, the group allegedly bragged about their activities while displaying stacks of cash believed to be ransom proceeds.

The video triggered widespread outrage across Nigeria and drew the attention of security analysts tracking criminal networks online.

Clips now circulating across X and Instagram show the moment the suspect was captured by troops. In the footage, the once-confident figure seen in viral TikTok videos appears visibly shaken while being escorted in handcuffs by security personnel.

The arrest has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians praising the security forces for tracking down the suspect.

Nigeria’s northwest region — particularly Zamfara State and neighbouring states — has faced years of violent attacks by armed bandit groups responsible for kidnappings, killings, and village raids.

Security analysts say criminals have increasingly used social media to intimidate victims’ families, boast about ransom payments and taunt authorities. However, digital footprints from such posts can also provide investigators with valuable clues.

In Sule Yellow’s case, experts believe his constant online activity made it easier for authorities to track his movements and gather intelligence.

Although the Nigerian Armed Forces has yet to issue a detailed official statement, multiple reports confirm the arrest as part of ongoing counter-banditry operations in the northwest.

Sources say the suspect is currently in custody and is assisting investigators with information that could lead to the arrest of other gang members and the discovery of bandit hideouts.

For many Nigerians reacting online, the dramatic downfall of the once-viral bandit is a powerful reminder that criminals who flaunt their actions on social media may ultimately expose themselves.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing and more updates are expected as security agencies intensify efforts to dismantle bandit networks across northern Nigeria.
