Ogun Residents Roast Fire Service for Showing Up Late to Burnt Car
Ogun residents mock fire service for arriving late to a car blaze, turning tragedy into viral comedy. Nigerians roast officials in hilarious reactions.
Residents of Ogun State turned a tragic car fire into a comedy skit on Monday after mocking fire service officials who arrived fashionably late — only to find the vehicle had already been reduced to ashes.
In a viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter), bystanders could be heard laughing hysterically as the firefighters tried to make themselves useful. One resident shouted: “So una come to wash the ground abi?” while another joked: “Next time, bring broom instead of water — at least help us pack the remains.”
Online reactions weren’t any softer. A user quipped: “Fire service in Nigeria will attend your funeral before they attend your fire.” Another added: “At this point, calling them is just charity work.”
While some sympathized with the officials — blaming poor funding and lack of equipment — most Nigerians treated the incident as another episode in the country’s long-running “comedy series” of public service failures.
For now, the Ogun Fire Service may need more than water hoses — maybe a wristwatch, a calendar, or even Google Maps.
