The Oba of Benin, Ewuare 11, has pledged his unflinching support for the family of the late founder and chairman of DAAR Communications Limited, and African Independent Television, AIT, Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi. Comforting the family led by Raymond Dokpesi Jr, over the painful loss of their father, when they visited him in his palace on Monday, Oba Ewuare 11 recalled how the AIT gave free media coverage to his coronation events in 2016.
The Benin monarch, who promised to keep Dokpesi’s family in their prayers, said his memory will remain evergreen.
In a statement by the chief press secretary to the Oba of Benin, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, Oba Ewuare 11 said “We will keep on praying for you. May God almighty and our ancestors grant our prayers. We are here for you. We will do our best to support you all the time. I want to assure you that we will do our best, personal and official, to keep on supporting the Dokpesi family, and his friends. We also had an idea of the challenges he had. He stood by his challenges and he came out stronger”.
Earlier in his address to the Benin throne, Dokpesi Jr, eldest son of the deceased, thanked the Oba of Benin for his kind affection towards the family and wise counsel before, during, and after the funeral of their father.
Dokpesi Jr, who was in company with his uncle, Cyril Dokpesi, and other family members, friends, and well-wishers, expressed how devastated they were about their loss, and solicited the Oba’s prayers to enable them to overcome the vicissitudes of life.
