Abu Jamiu, a commercial bus driver at the Ojota New Garage, Ikorodu road, Lagos has alleged that he was assaulted by Ifeolu Adenusi, a leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW suffering multiple machete cuts to the head, wrist, arms and legs in the process.
Jamiu alleged that the NURTW leader popularly called “love,” attacked him on Friday, May 16, 2014 shortly after he returned from a trip to Ogbomoso, Oyo State at about 9pm.
While narrating his ordeal to TELL, Jamiu disclosed that he was taken to Ogudu Police station by security guards who were on duty on a street adjacent to the park on the tragic night. He said no sooner had he arrived at the station to report the incident than Adenusi barged into the premises and pounced on him while the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, watched on helplessly.
Jamiu said it took the intervention of some of his colleagues at the park before he was taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, Ikeja, on Saturday morning where he was treated for multiple matchet cuts.
While Jamiu could not immediately provide reasons for the assault, he accused Adenusi of being particularly hostile to Ikire descendants, a group of drivers from Osun State in the park to which he belongs.
