FG Launches Digital Platform to Transition Nigeria’s Civil Service to a Paperless System
The Federal Government of Nigeria launches a new digital platform to make civil service operations paperless, promoting transparency, efficiency, and smart governance nationwide.
The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), has officially launched a digital platform designed to transition the nation’s civil service into a fully paperless operational system.
The initiative marks a major step toward modernizing government processes, improving transparency, and enhancing administrative efficiency across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
According to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, the project aims to reduce bureaucracy, cut operational costs, and boost productivity by integrating digital workflow systems that allow civil servants to process, approve, and store official documents electronically.
The platform, developed under the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP25), will also strengthen data management and promote accountability within the public sector.
Officials say the transition to a paperless system will not only accelerate Nigeria’s e-governance goals but also reduce environmental impact by minimising paper waste and duplication. Training sessions and system integrations are already being rolled out across key federal institutions to ensure seamless adoption.
The move aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s broader vision to digitize public service operations and position Nigeria among leading African nations embracing smart governance.
