Weeks after initial reports surfaced about structural damage to the Lotto Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the situation remains unresolved, raising growing safety concerns among motorists and residents.

According to a video shared by Objectv Media, a massive concrete beam continues to hang dangerously beneath the bridge near Mowe, with no visible signs of repair or removal efforts from relevant authorities. The damaged section poses a serious risk to drivers and pedestrians, especially those navigating the busy expressway during rush hours.

Despite repeated public outcry, no official statement has been issued by the Federal Ministry of Works or the Ogun State government, fueling frustration over the apparent neglect of one of Nigeria’s busiest road corridors.

Motorists have described the situation as “a ticking time bomb,” urging the government to act swiftly before a tragedy occurs. Some commuters expressed fear that the structural failure could escalate under heavy traffic or rainfall.

The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, one of the country’s most vital transport routes, has seen extensive reconstruction work in recent years. However, incidents like this highlight ongoing maintenance challenges and raise questions about the durability and supervision of completed sections.

Authorities are being called upon to conduct an immediate structural assessment and ensure the removal or repair of the damaged beam before disaster strikes.
