Terror struck the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Oke-Isegun, in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, on Tuesday, November 18, when bandits attacked a worship service being broadcast on a live stream, killing at least three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor.

The assault occurred in the evening while congregants were gathered for worship. Without warning, heavily armed gunmen entered the church, opening fire and sending worshippers scrambling for safety. The moment of invasion — captured on the church’s live stream — has since gone viral, sparking nationwide outrage.

Eyewitnesses report that the attackers moved swiftly, shooting sporadically before seizing multiple worshippers. The church’s live-streaming device, initially overlooked by the assailants, continued recording as panic spread inside the sanctuary.

Community members said the terrorists escaped through nearby bush paths after abducting the pastor and several congregants. Residents also revealed that the attack on the church followed a broader assault on parts of Eruku earlier that evening, forcing many to flee into surrounding forests.

The Eruku community, located at the boundary of Kwara, Kogi, and Ekiti States, has become a hotspot for recurring bandit attacks. The Osi–Eruku–Egbe route is notorious for kidnappings and ambushes, with locals repeatedly calling for stronger security presence.

Security officials are said to be conducting search operations around the forests, but no formal statement has been released by state authorities at the time of this report.

The horrifying incident has reignited public concern over rampant insecurity in rural Nigeria and renewed demands for urgent federal intervention to protect vulnerable communities.
