NDLEA Arrests ‘KC Luxury’ in Alleged ₦39bn Cocaine Cartel as Influencer Tries to Fly to Paris
The NDLEA says Afolabi Kazeem Michael was arrested while allegedly preparing to fly to Paris after investigators traced a 184.5kg cocaine shipment intercepted at a Lagos courier facility.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lagos social media influencer and luxury goods dealer Afolabi Kazeem Michael, popularly known as KC Luxury, over his alleged involvement in an international cocaine trafficking network.
The arrest followed the interception of 184.50 kilogrammes of cocaine at a courier logistics company in Lagos. NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd.) said the seized consignment had an estimated street value of about ₦39 billion and described the operation as one of the agency’s most significant recent narcotics investigations.
According to the agency, the cocaine was concealed in a consignment being processed through the courier company and was allegedly destined for international distribution. Investigators subsequently launched a wider operation aimed at identifying the individuals behind the shipment and the network responsible for moving the drugs through Nigeria.
The investigation led to the arrest of Lawal Mujab Kehinde, a staff member of the logistics company. NDLEA alleged that Kehinde had been working with the syndicate, packaging and processing consignments for shipment to the United Kingdom, Europe and Asia in exchange for cash.
Investigators then turned their attention to KC Luxury, whom the NDLEA identified as an alleged Nigerian coordinator of the trafficking network.
The agency said KC Luxury was arrested on August 13, 2026, at the boarding gate of Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos after intelligence indicated that he was preparing to leave Nigeria on a business-class flight to Paris.
Marwa said operatives moved to intercept the suspect after receiving information about his planned departure.
At the time of his arrest, NDLEA said officers recovered €7,750, £2,800 and ₦100,000, along with expensive jewellery. A subsequent search of his residence in Banana Island, Ikoyi, reportedly resulted in the recovery of several exotic vehicles.
The NDLEA said its investigation indicated that the suspect publicly operated as a luxury goods dealer involved in gold, jewellery and other high-value products. According to Marwa, investigators believe the public image was allegedly used to conceal the suspect’s involvement in the wider drug trafficking operation.
The agency said the suspected network allegedly moved cocaine from South America through Nigeria to destinations in the United Kingdom, other parts of Europe and Asia.
British authorities have also reportedly arrested other individuals allegedly connected to the same network, according to the NDLEA. Marwa described the arrests in Nigeria and the United Kingdom as part of an international effort to dismantle the alleged trafficking operation.
The arrest has generated significant discussion on social media, particularly because of KC Luxury’s public image and the luxury lifestyle associated with his online persona.
Images and videos of expensive vehicles and other luxury items linked to the influencer have resurfaced online following news of the arrest, prompting questions from social media users about the source of his wealth.
However, the NDLEA’s allegations have yet to be tested in court, and the recovery of luxury vehicles or other assets does not, by itself, establish that they were acquired through proceeds of drug trafficking.
Marwa warned individuals who believe that wealth, social media popularity or an affluent public image can shield them from law enforcement.
The NDLEA chairman also raised concerns about international trafficking organisations increasingly using courier and logistics companies to move illicit consignments, describing such businesses as potential targets for exploitation by criminal networks.
The latest operation highlights the continuing efforts by Nigerian authorities to disrupt international drug trafficking networks that use the country as a transit point.
Both KC Luxury and Lawal Mujab Kehinde remain in NDLEA custody as investigations continue. The suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty by a court of law.
The NDLEA is expected to provide further details as its investigation progresses and formal legal proceedings are initiated.
For now, the case has placed the social media personality at the centre of one of the agency’s major recent cocaine investigations, following the seizure of a consignment valued by the agency at approximately ₦39 billion.
