Attahiru Jega, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has spoken on the election protest going on in Port Harcourt, Rivers State during a press briefing in Abuja this evening.
He confirmed that the biggest opposition party, All Progressives Congress, APC, wrote a letter to the Commission urging it to cancel the elections held in Rivers State. In line with this, Jega stated categorically that when such letters are received, the Commission begins a thorough investigation before taking a decision. He assured that once investigations are concluded, a decision will be made in that regards.
