Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), triggering major uncertainty ahead of the state’s 2026 governorship election.

In a resignation letter dated November 4, 2025, Adeleke cited the crippling national leadership crisis within the PDP as his reason for exiting.

The turmoil, he said, stalled the party’s planned ward congresses and threw doubt over the December 2 Osun governorship primary.

Adeleke, who had reportedly completed all required nomination procedures and emerged as the only aspirant who satisfied all obligations, shocked party loyalists by withdrawing immediately rather than continuing under the disputed structure.

The announcement, made public late Monday, leaves the Osun PDP without a definite governorship candidate, just months before crucial electoral preparations.

Although Adeleke remains governor until his tenure expires, his exit is seen as a massive blow to the party’s stability and future prospects.

Reactions quickly poured in online. His nephew, music star Davido, acknowledged the news with a short post reading, “Jeje,” sparking viral conversations across social media.

Political analysts say Adeleke’s departure could reshape party alliances in Osun and beyond, while supporters continue to wait for clarity on his next political move.
