The Edo State Police Command on Wednesday paraded a medical doctor suspected to be a serial killer who snuffs life out of his unsuspecting victims with lethal injections to dispossess them of their cars, and dispose of their bodies.
The 36-year-old Abass Adeyemi Adebowale from Offa local government area of Kwara State, was alleged to have killed a cab driver, Emmanuel Agbonviwere, 39, whose Toyota Voltron car he hired when he came to transact business in Benin by administering on him Diazepam injections, popularly known as ‘sniper’, and dumped his body in a bush at Oluku, along Benin-Akure Road, while he drove his car to Oshogbo, Osun State, where he was arrested on Monday.
Briefing journalists on the incident at the Edo State Police Command Headquarters in Benin City, the Police public relations officer, PPRO of the Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, said Abass, a graduate of the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, works at Kaiama General Hospital as a medical officer.
According to Nwabuzor, “The Edo State Police Command, in an attempt to rid Edo State of crime and criminality, has arrested a medical doctor, Abass Adeyemi Adebowale (36) for killing Emmanuel Yobo Agbonviwere, 39 years, a cab driver. The victim and the suspect met in July this year at an undisclosed hotel in Benin, and that is where their relationship started.
“On Sunday, 4th of September, the suspect came from Kwara State and they met at the same undisclosed hotel, where, as a customer, he took him around to where he was to do his business. The cab man complained of leg pain and the doctor promised to help, and injected some poisonous drugs in his system. That was what killed him instantly”.
Giving further details, Nwabuzor explained that “For him to conceal his crime, he left the body in the man’s car, (Toyota Voltron) but later took the body to Ondo Road, Oluku, Edo State, and dumped his body there. When the Anti-Kidnapping Unit got notice of what happened, they mobilized, and he was arrested in Oshogbo, Osun State with the man’s car”.
