Davido Graduates at Babcock University

DavidoDavid Adeleke, music artiste popularly known as’ Davido’ has graduated with a Second Class Upper degree in Music at the Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo, Ogun State. Adeleke who was the only student in the department, graduated with 1,416 other students at the school’s 13th Undergraduate Convocation ceremony for the Award of Degrees And Prizes, held on Sunday,June 7, 2015.

Makpa Emmanuel of the department of Christian Religious Studies, who scored the highest CGPA of 4.91 alongside other students who distinguished themselves in academics,leadership,community and spiritual services,were rewarded with prizes ranging from cash to laptops and scholarships.

At the same event, Godswill Akpabio, former governor of Akwa Ibom State and newly elected senator was conferred with a Doctor of Science in Global Economic Development.

In his address at the event, Joseph Makinde, President and Vice Chancellor, Babcock University, highlighted some of the landmark achievements of the institution in recent years. He urged the graduating students whom have been tagged the ‘Eagle Class of 2015,’ to always stand for integrity, “and prove that you cannot be rubbished,” he said. Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Mark Hertling,senior vice president,Global Initiatives,Florida Hospital,United States, who delivered a brief lecture, told the graduating students to weave their lives around three-pronged advice which he said are: Say Thank You, Never Stop Learning, Believe in Yourself.

Hertling who shared some personal experience on the advice also urged them to make God a priority in their lives. The event was graced by traditional rulers, members of the academia and government functionaries among other dignitaries.

The school had its postgraduate convocation ceremony on Thursday, June 4, where 382 students graduated.
