The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has confirmed that Gabon will host the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
Issa Hayatou, CAF president, announced this on Wednesday at a CAF ceremony.
Although Libya was earlier slated to host the competition, security concerns had led CAF to withdraw its hosting rights in August last year.
CAF then received bids from Algeria, Egypt, Ghana and Gabon even though Egypt withdrew its bid in February.
Gabon got CAF’s nod and will now host the competition for the second time in five years.
