The twenty four police vehicles supposedly carted away by Solomon Arase, the former Nigeria Inspector General of Police, IGP, have been traced to a motor repair shop in Abuja. The vehicles, including the official IGP Staff Car and spare staff car- two bullet-proof BMW cars, were found at Auto Computers, the contracted repair shop in the Jabi district of Abuja where they were reportedly undergoing repairs for the use of Ibrahim Idris, the acting IGP.
A source at the repair shop revealed that they were not contacted about the vehicles and were not bothered since it was the police that brought the vehicles for repair.
Ibrahim Idris, the acting inspector general of police, had raised alarm over the whereabouts of the vehicles and accused his predecessor, Solomon Arase, who recently retired from the force, of carting them away. This necessitated a reaction from Arase who said: “I suspect there must be a disconnect somewhere because every information needed by my successor are provided in my handover notes. It’s unfortunate that this matter is being made a media issue because my successor has my telephone number and could have called me for any clarification or even sent me a text message rather than addressing the media on an issue well documented in my handover notes,” he said.
