Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s president-elect has declared that the task of rebuilding the country by his administration is huge, and will require the cooperation, support and understanding of all Nigerians, irrespective of party allegiances.
Buhari who was in Yola on a thank-you visit to Adamawa State and to receive defectors from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP, announced that one of the cardinal policies of his incoming government was to improve the living standard of the less privileged in the society.
“Nigeria had been bastardised and would require a lot of sacrifices by all to change the ugly issue,” he added.
Buhari therefore urged the Nigerian elite to join hands with him, in building the nation, declaring that as president, no meaningful thing would be achieved without the cooperation, support and understanding of the citizen.
He stated that “the role education sector played in the development of the society was enormous,” promising that the sector would be accorded due recognition by his government, so as to reduce to the barest minimum, the illiteracy level in the country.
He thanked Adamawa State citizens for the unflinching support his party received during the presidential election and urged them to extend the same gesture to the APC candidates during the governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday.
National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, John Odigie-Oyegun, at the event also added that, Buhari’s victory marked the beginning of a series of revolutions that would take place in APC controlled Federal Government.
He described Buhari as an apostle of the desired change, urging Nigerians to support him in all his efforts to make a turn around in the country.Follow Us on Social Media
