The Six Kidnapped Igbonla Model College Students Regains Freedom

Six students kidnapped from the Igbonla Model College in the Epe Area of Lagos have regained their freedom.

This followed talks between the abductors and some government officials from Nigeria’s southwest region.

This comes more than two months after gunmen stormed the school during the morning assembly and abducted the students.[powr-banner-slider id=f615b390_1500277847679]

The kidnappers had attacked the school premises firing gun shots to scare the students and parents.

Policemen on guard attempted to intercept them and called for reinforcement but the six abducted students were unlucky as the gunmen whisked the students away through the waterways.Igbonla College Students

Although details of their release are still sketchy, according to the reports reaching us[tweetshareinline tweet=” the kids were released in Ajakpa Community in Ese Odo” username=”Tellng”] Local Government Area of Ondo State.

A senior police officer said the children had been moved to the Ondo State Police Command headquarters in Akure.
It was gathered that no ransom was paid before the victims were released.

According to a source, the abducted kids would be taken to the Ondo State Governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu at the Ondo State Government House Akure, the state capital by the security operatives.

One of the parents of the children basked in euphoria when contacted on the telephone.

“I am the happiest person on earth right now. When I called the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to confirm the news, he said ‘congratulations, they have been released’.”
