While some residents see the deployment as a welcome development, others are lamenting that the roadblocks mounted by the soldiers on major roads have resulted to traffic gridlock, adding that their presence is intimidating.
TELL, gathered that some of the areas where the soldiers were spotted mounting road-blocks yesterday, Wednesday March 25, and early hours of today, March 26 were Sango Ota, Oshodi, Surulere, Ikeja, Iyana-Ipaja among others.
A businessman, who spoke under anonymity, lamented that, several residents are being intimidated by the gun and horsewhip-wielding soldiers.
He said that gridlock has suddenly started from Kola bus stop to Tollgate, Sango ota, Ogun State axis because of the checkpoints placed on roads by the military to inspect vehicles.
He added that the soldiers also beat up a woman around Iyana-Iyesi, Sango Otta, due to the fact that she said that the courts have said soldiers have no role in elections.
Also, Adebimpe Oyelana, a housewife said that she was scared this morning when she saw soldiers around Ikeja along seizing some phones and cameras from people who were trying to take a picture of them (soldiers).
