Peller and Jarvis’ Star-Studded Lagos Wedding Descends into Chaos as Agberos Demand ‘Settle’, Couple Restricts White Wedding to 100 Guests
Traffic gridlock, security concerns, missing phones and extravagant gifts dominate conversations after TikTok stars’ lavish traditional wedding in Lekki.
The lavish traditional wedding of popular Nigerian TikTok stars Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, popularly known as Peller, and Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, widely known as Jarvis, became one of the biggest social media talking points of the weekend after massive crowds, traffic congestion, and confrontations with street touts disrupted parts of Lekki, Lagos.
The high-profile ceremony, held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, attracted celebrities, influencers, family members, business personalities and thousands of excited fans, turning the upscale Lagos neighbourhood into a hive of activity.
The event, which trended across social media under the hashtag #JP2026, featured luxury decorations, coordinated aso-ebi outfits, exotic vehicles, live performances, and lavish celebrations that reportedly cost several millions of naira. Industry reports estimated the event venue alone was valued at approximately ₦15 million, while the total wedding expenses were believed to run into tens of millions of naira.
Among the notable guests were Nollywood stars, musicians including Zinoleesky and Juma Jux, socialite Cubana Chief Priest, and several leading Nigerian content creators and influencers.
However, beyond the glamour, videos circulating on social media captured tense moments outside the venue as groups of agberos allegedly intercepted vehicles transporting guests and demanded “settle” money before allowing passage.
One widely shared video showed the driver of a Mercedes-Benz GLE attempting to navigate through a crowd after being surrounded by touts demanding cash. The driver accelerated to escape the situation, narrowly avoiding hitting one of the men, further highlighting the recurring security and extortion challenges often associated with major public events in Lagos.
The massive turnout also created significant security concerns.
Access to the venue was reportedly restricted to invited guests, with several individuals without invitation cards denied entry. Despite the tight security, multiple reports emerged that some attendees had their mobile phones stolen or went missing during the celebration.
Before the ceremony, Peller had warned fans against overcrowding the venue, and following the traditional wedding, he publicly addressed the security challenges experienced during the event.
Adding even more excitement to the celebration was the extraordinary display of gifts presented to the newlyweds.
Businessman and real estate investor King Ochacho, also known as Mohammed Odeh Adah, reportedly gifted the couple a luxury mansion in Abuja’s Life Camp district valued at approximately ₦400 million.
Other gifts publicly announced included ₦10 million from Cubana Chief Priest, cash gifts from international guests, parcels of land, foreign currency donations, and additional contributions that reportedly pushed the total value of gifts into the hundreds of millions of naira.
Following the overwhelming turnout and logistical challenges experienced during the traditional wedding, Peller announced that the couple’s white wedding, scheduled for August 8, 2026, will be a much smaller and strictly private ceremony.
According to the content creator, attendance will be limited to approximately 80 to 100 invited guests to ensure better crowd control and improved security.
He also warned bloggers, uninvited guests and street touts not to appear at the event, explaining that the decision was influenced by overcrowding, reports of missing phones, and the need to provide a more secure environment for family and close friends.
The couple had already completed their civil wedding in late July 2026, making the traditional and white weddings part of a multi-stage celebration that has captivated fans across social media.
Their relationship, which has remained one of Nigeria’s most followed online love stories, continues to generate significant engagement, with millions of viewers following every stage of their wedding journey.
While the extravagant ceremony showcased the growing influence and financial success of Nigeria’s new generation of digital creators, it also exposed the practical challenges of organising large-scale celebrity events in one of Africa’s busiest cities.
