Fatai Adeyinka, Chairman of the Commission, said except the hurdles of creation of more voting wards across the state and update of existing voters register are cleared, elections into the state’s third tier of government may not hold.
Adeyinka made the revelation while briefing the states House of Assembly members on the preparedness or otherwise of the commission ahead of next month’s election.
He stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the mother commission was yet to release the updated register to his state body for the conduct of the election slated for October.
Any move to use the register at its disposal, the LASIEC boss warned, could amount to “disenfranchising some voters from exercising their rights,” he said. As part of efforts to prevent such occurrence, The House has mandated Ajibayo Adeyeye, leader of the House to team up with the House committee on Judiciary to deliberate on the issue and come up with a solution to change the situation.
