IGP Disu Honours Abeokuta Traffic Officer Anifa Bello with Award, Cash Support
Retired DST Anifa Bello Abiodun was recognised by IGP Olatunji Disu for her professionalism, discipline and dedication to traffic management in Abeokuta.
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has honoured retired Deputy Superintendent of Traffic (DST) Anifa Bello Abiodun for her years of dedicated service and professionalism as a traffic officer in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Abiodun received the IGP’s Award of Recognition and cash support during a presentation at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
The recognition highlights the retired officer’s contribution to traffic management and her longstanding service under the Ogun State Police Command, particularly in Abeokuta, where she became a familiar figure to residents and road users.
According to the Nigeria Police Force, Abiodun distinguished herself through discipline, resilience, professionalism and commitment to duty. Her conduct and approach to traffic management also earned her goodwill among members of the public during her years of service.
Presenting the award, IGP Disu commended Abiodun for maintaining professional standards and serving the public with dedication.
The police chief said members of the public generally appreciate officers when they carry out their responsibilities professionally and responsibly, adding that positive interactions between police personnel and communities can help strengthen public confidence in the Force.
Disu further stressed the importance of recognising police personnel who demonstrate exemplary conduct. He said that while officers must continue to be held accountable for misconduct, those who distinguish themselves through professionalism, integrity and dedication should equally receive recognition.
The IGP said such recognition helps reinforce the standards expected of police personnel and encourages other officers to remain committed to their duties.
Abiodun’s recognition follows growing public appreciation of her years of traffic management service in Abeokuta. Her work had made her a recognisable presence on the city’s roads, where she was known for directing traffic and assisting road users.
The award also underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s stated commitment to rewarding good conduct and acknowledging personnel whose service contributes to better relations between the police and the communities they serve.
