2 AAU Students killed in cult war

A renewed cult clash has claimed the lives of two students of the Ambrose Alli University, (AAU) Ekpoma, Edo State. The students were said to have been shot dead last Friday by some unidentified gunmen. This incident came on the heels of an alleged gruesome killing of another student simply identified as Eddy about two days earlier who was reportedly severely beaten and left for dead by a group of persons for allegedly purchasing some items with “fake bank alert.”

The news of Eddy’s predicament was said to have been misconstrued for an attack by rival cult members and that he had died. But it turned out that he survived. The misrepresentation of facts reportedly led to a reprisal attack, resulting in the death of the two students on Friday.

TELL gathered that a student union official, a 400-level student in the Faculty of Agriculture, was killed at the Poultry Road extension in the university town. When contacted, spokesman for the Edo State Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the killings. He said some suspects had been arrested.

“Yes, the Command is aware of it and investigation is ongoing in the matter and some suspects have been arrested,” Nwabuzor said.
