President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Nsima Ekere, a former deputy governor of Akwa Ibom state as new managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC. If Ekere is confirmed by the Senate, he would replace Ibim Semenitari, who occupies that position now in acting capacity. In a letter to the senate , the president is also asking for the confirmation of Victor Ndoma-Egba, the senate leader in the last dispensation as chairman of the board of the commission. Ndoma-Egba , formerly a member of the now opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, shortly after Buhari took office. He is from Cross state. What this implies is that Semenitari , a journalist who served in the administration of former governor Rotimi Amaechi in Rivers state may be winding up already as chief executive of the commission.
