David Oyedepo, Chancellor, Covenant University, CU, has stressed the importance of quality education as the key factor that can accelerate the growth of a nation.
He said this while addressing the audience at the 10th convocation ceremony of the university held on Friday, at the University chapel, CU, Ota, Ogun State.
“Knowledge remains the ruling power of the world, a nation that want a true change must invest heavily on quality and life-transforming education,” he said.
Oyedepo said the government and other stakeholders in the education sector in Nigeria need to improve on the quality of education being provided by the various institutions of learning.
Speaking in the same vein, Monday Joshua, executive secretary, National Commission For Colleges of Education, NCCE, said a lot still needs to be done in the education sector, if Nigeria must get to its desired level of development.

He urged the graduands, tagged, Admirable Set, Class of 2015, to continue to learn and show forth all that God has “endowed in you. You must know that every degree has a lifespan of 5 years.”
In his address, Professor Charles Ayo, vice chancellor, CU, proudly reeled out the achievements of the school in the areas of information communication technology, academic programmes, infrastructure, medicine, community development efforts and international exchange programmes.
The vice chancellor also listed out some of university’s research innovations, products as well as the award and recognitions earned in the last three years which include the Best Private University in Nigeria 2013 and 2014 by the Centre for Governance in Africa.
